Oklahoma Stock Horse Association

Welcome to the OkSHA Website!

The Oklahoma Stock Horse Association was started by a group of people interested in promoting the American Stock Horse Association's philosophy and mission of creating better horses and better horsemen. The OkSHA was established as a non-profit Oklahoma organization in August of 2009. They applied and were accepted as an affiliate of the American Stock Horse Association shortly there after.

The mission of this organization is to:

promote education for the western stock horse enthusiast to ride and train a versatile western stock horse
to increase performance and safety
to perpetuate and preserve the western tradition and heritage of working stock and ranch horses
to encourage the use of standard rules for conducting and judging contests for the western all-around stock horse
to encourage honesty, integrity, respect, sportsmanship and family values

The OkSHA holds clinic/show combination events. There are four events:

Ranch Pleasure

Trail

Reining

Cow Horse

Divisions include:

Open

Non Pro

Limited Non Pro

Novice

Youth & Green Horse

Clinics are held the first day, with all four events covered. Competitions are held on the second day, again offering all four classes. OkSHA competitions are approved by the American Stock Horse Association.

In addition to the approved clinic/competition events, OkSHA also holds clinics where interested persons can try out the events and improve their horsemanship skills.

To participate in the ASHA approved competitions, persons must be members in both the OkSHA and the ASHA.
